Thursday night I was scheduled for the nightly campfire program. I tell a Native American story about Old Clay Man and Old Clay Woman teaching the Ancestral Puebloan people how to make clay pots.
After roving the campground to invite visitors to the program I walked to the campground amphitheater wondering if I would actually build a fire. And would there would be any wood in our shed?
Imagine my surprise when the wood was completely laid out and ready to light. I thought maybe the previous night’s Ranger had not lit the fire. Or maybe the forest elves were looking after me.
Then I noticed a bouquet of wildflowers in a styrofoam cup with a piece of folded paper underneath.
I smiled and felt tingly all over. Then lit the fire and shared this gift with the attending visitors. Thank you secret campers.

Now that is a wonderful and heart warming story Gaelyn. We sometimes go about our work and think no one appreciates us so it is so nice to have someone actually say and show it. Keep up the magnificent job you are doing my dear friend!!

I remember a few times when my brother sister and i would do something for our mother and leave a note and signing it the elves. I am glad the tradition continues.

What a delightful thank you note to receive! A small gesture, but it is one that gave so much pleasure. The note is one to keep in your scrapbook of memories. It will warm your heart each time you look at it.
I like the idea of secret campers. They must be below or above our radar and invisible to most people.

As a National Park Volunteer, I love seeing the wonder and excitement and pure delight. I love seeing the work fo the Ranbger corps appreciated. I love people loving the parks. Each year we seem to meet people who have lived an hour and a half away for many years and are visiting for hte first time. Never too late to start.
(We added two national parks to our visited list this summer--Cairngorms in Scotland and Northumbria in England.)
